Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:
Performs routine and preventative cleaning for Main Branch. Travel may be required travel to Pittsville and Centre Branch to work as needed. 25 hours per week

Essential Functions:
Performs daily cleaning routines such as vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash, cleaning surfaces, bathrooms and floors, snow removal and outside exterior. This position can be scheduled to work at Main, Centre or Pittsville Branch.
Promptly responds to urgent request by staff for cleaning task
Provides clean, safe & comfortable environment for library patrons
Assist in performing opening and closing procedures of the building(s) as needed
Adherence to safety procedures and respond to emergencies as needed.
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read and write and keep simple records, knowledge of custodial equipment and sanitary cleaning procedures, including mixing and applying cleaning chemicals.
Knowledge of routine maintenance a plus.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; one year of job-related course work after high school preferred
Minimum three years relevant experience

Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.: Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record. Copy of driving record is required.

Supervisory responsibility: None

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

Position based at Main Library. Must be able to work at Centre and Pittsville Branches as needed. Work requires constant physical effort, including some lifting or handling of moderately heavy materials of 60 pounds or more.
