Location: Downtown Branch of Wicomico Public Libraries.
Full-time 35 hours per week includes nights and weekend work.

TITLE: Circulation Manager (Downtown Branch)
GRADE: 8 FLSA 35 hours per week

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

Job Summary: Manages Circulation Department, including staffing Main Library Circulation Desk, check out, check in, renewal, re-shelving and shelf reading of Library materials, maintaining borrower registration database and issuing Library cards, assessing and receiving fines and fees, managing overdue, billing, reserve and ILL processes, and maintaining customer service standards

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise operation of Circulation Department, organizes and plans departmental tasks
  • Supervises volunteers assigned to circulation department
  • Manages customer complaints, concerns and needs at the Circulation Desk
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and motivates Circulation Staff
  • Manages Unique Collection agency process
  • Manages operations of cash drawer and public photocopier
  • Manages clerical duties associated with bills, reserves, and interlibrary loan
  • Serves as member of Management Team and Collection Management Team
  • Staffs the Circulation Desk, checks in/out and renews materials, registers borrowers and updates records, provides customer service as needed
  • Cooperates with other departments to meet customer and staff needs
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Basic computer skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, supervisory and organizational skills
    Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc. LATI (Library Associate Training Institute) certification required for Bachelor’s degree employees within 2 years of hire with recertification every 5 years.

    Branch assistants, Circulation Assistants, Library Assistants, Library Associates and Volunteers

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum five years relevant experience
